Photography
The photography treasure hunt we did at th beginning of the year really taught me a lot about photography. My fellow classmates and I went around taking pictures of different things from different angles. I remember having a list of different angles that we had to get, and trying to incorporate them into whatever we were capturing. It taught me a lot about photography, considering previous to that I barely even knew how to take a photo with my phone.
Writing
At the beginning of the year, I thought captions were the worst thing to have ever graced my learning experience in Yearbook. I felt like I couldn't get it right, or the wording would sound weird. I would always want to use the words that are unacceptable to use. When I was writing my Tigerstock captions I remember having to get an editor to keep checking them because I had no idea what I was doing. It was about five times of checking every caption until I got it right. And even then, they weren't anything to rave about. However, when I wrote my captions for Indoor Track, they were as easy as pie. I only had to have an editor check over them once, and the things I had to fix were very minor. It was surprising to me, to be completely honest.
Interviewing
Whenever I did an interview in the begionning stages of Yearbook I would always ask such bland questions. They would be like "How did your night go?" Something so boring, and generic. My quotes weren't particularly special because of the generic questions that I kept asking. It wasn't until the middle of the year that I figured out that good questions are correlated to good responses (well, sometimes), and I have now been able to improve my interview questions to get the quotes I need.
Headline Design
Coming up with my first headline design was a pretty difficult task. I had never designed a headline before, and I had no idea how to even begin. I rEmember getting a couple graphic design notebooks, and looKing through all of the designs to find something that I could make work for my page. Finally, I found a couple different things from each page, which lead to coming up with the concept for my very first headline. It wasn't anything too difficult to do, but I was definitely proud of how it turned out.
